Summary
The Superintendent oversees daily job site operations, handling scheduling, material procurement, manpower, and equipment. This role manages direct labor and supervises contracted work to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Plans construction phases, timelines, and staffing needs based on specifications and resources.
- Works with the Project Manager to set schedules and utilizes "look-ahead" plans for proactive issue management.
- Organizes pre-construction meetings and ensures timely tool and material delivery.
- Communicates project updates to supervisors, craft personnel, subcontractors, and clients to avoid delays.
- Collaborates with labor representatives to address workforce issues.
- Resolves construction problems with supervisory and engineering staff and inspects ongoing work.
- Manages progress reports, costs, and adjusts schedules as needed.
- Coordinates staffing with Craft Resources Manager and oversees work assignments to control labor costs.
- Supports the Project Manager in preparing the Project Management Plan.
- Ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and quality requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction (or equivalent) preferred but not necessary
- 5+ years in data center construction or large-scale projects.
- Proficient in construction processes, building codes, and blueprint reading.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and management skills.
- Organizational, planning, and interpersonal abilities, with integrity and professionalism.
- Competent in office equipment and CMiC software; hospital project experience ($10M+) preferred.
